When it comes to Web 2.0 technologies, if it is used in a mature classroom setting for the benefit of the educational lesson, I think social media sites can be useful. Preferably technologies like Twitter and blogs would be best as opposed to Facebook or Instagram. Anything that allows for a wider communication not only to students in the direct community but in communities outside their own, allows for potential insight into different learning experiences as well as a broader education can be beneficial to the students. The only concern I can see with some of these sites that were previously mentioned like Facebook or Instagram is that they move away from a more potential educational setting and that of a social one. Therefore, that can be distracting to students and cause there to lose track of the educational purposes they are using the site for. However, there are an array of tools like Kahoot or Prezi that allow for interactions that keep the educational basis.

Considering that I want to teach high school and after the students leave me they will begin their future endeavors to either go to college or begin a career, I think it is important to give time to educate on resumes and information that will be beneficial to them achieving a potential job opportunity. Therefore, I think it is a great idea to get these students familiar with sites like Wix and Weebly where they can create an ePortfolio for employers. Furthermore, I think getting them also familiar with a site like LinkedIn could be beneficial for their status for careers as well. Remind101 is another great one that allows a teacher to send reminders to students from their computers to their digital devices to keep them updated on what to do and what will be covered as well. Finally, Socrative is a classroom app that allows for interactive learning that can done from computers, tablets, or mobile devices and gives an assessment on the student understanding and allows for classroom engagement in a fun way.

I think that the way social media is allowing people to interact with each other and be involved with on another is an important advancement in society and could work for the benefit of the education and ways to learn new methods to engage students. Not to mention, the accessibly of technology through different platforms and diverse mediums is definitely something that will benefit education and the interactions between students and their peers as well as their teachers. I think being able to interact with educators outside of the school atmosphere through a video chat and tutoring can allow for students to get the extra help that is needed especially on their own time without having to work around schedules. All of the online applications that give extra educational teaching is also beneficial because it allows for students to maybe find a way to better understand the material they can't quite grasp within the classroom setting. Ultimately, the accessible of knowledge is the most useful in the educational setting as it allows for students and teachers to search and reach out for the knowledge they desire.
